This idea is simple but it requires a little research. There seems to be a trend in the entrepreneurial world that reaching 7 figures is the epitome of getting what it is you want. Actually I take that back, it seems to be an entire middle class belief whether you run your own business or you have a job, that you’ve made it when you have a million dollars.
A million dollars.
1 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0
That’s a lot of zeroes.
Think of all the stuff you could buy with a million dollars.
No really, think of all the stuff you could buy with a million dollars, that is what I am asking you to do.
What does your millionaire lifestyle actually look like?
Where in the world would you live?
What would the mortgage or rental payments be on your dream house?
Organic food from the farmers market?
School fees for the kids?
Piano lessons? Basketball comps? Dance classes? Grooming for the pets? Getting your hair done every 6 weeks instead of every 6 months? A cleaner? A personal assistant for your business? A personal assistant for your life (they exist!)?
Home brand is replaced by… what?
What phone would you use? What computer would you have? What car would you drive?
What holidays would you take each year, how often, and when?
And how much would this all cost? Do your research and write it all down.
Mortgage per week is:
Car loan per week is:
School fees broken down into weeks are:
Organic food would cost this weekly:
Firstly, you’re going to notice that you might already have some of your millionaire lifestyle choices. If you had a million dollars would you still keep your iPhone?
Secondly, it is most likely less expensive than you think, because our Ego’s like to overdramatise how far we are from where we want to be.
Thirdly, you give yourself permission to have a more realistic goal, one that is more believable and less prone to attack from our negative beliefs and self-sabotaging behaviours. Instead of having a goal of going from $60,000 per year to $1,000,000 (a gap of $940,000), you bring your goal back to going from $850 a week $7,000 a week (a gap of $6,150). Your figure may be more or less than $7,000 as that is purely my example, but your figure will start to emerge when you get really clear on what you want and what it cost.
Lastly, your goals are clear as day. You know what your millionaire lifestyle looks like and you can begin to make conscious choices that will either bring you closer or further away to that vision.
By being aware you become accountable.
This activity and research if done right will take some time, so I encourage you to start a spreadsheet and every day make a phone call or two asking for quotes. Give yourself a deadline that you’ll have your result in 30 days. How much more do you need to earn per week for your millionaire lifestyle to be your reality?
That’s what you want to know. Then when you have that result, instead of believing the effort you put into it was a nice fluffy waste of feel-good time. Act. Brainstorm. Experiment.
The difference between where you are now and what it is you want, is the execution of making it so.
Be your own winning numbers, what a radical way that would be to live!
